Exclusive: Bristol City attacker agrees to join Swindon Town next season
Bristol City winger Jonny Smith has agreed terms to join Swindon Town on a season-long loan, Football Insider understands.
As revealed by Football Insider earlier this month, Wycombe made a bid to sign the 23-year-old after his impressive form on loan at Oldham Athletic during the 2019/20 campaign.
However, a source at Ashton Gate has told Football Insider that the Liverpool-born forward is set to head out temporarily again to join League One outfit Swindon for the upcoming season.
Smith, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for Bristol City since joining from Wrexham in 2016, has spent most of his career out on loan at a variety of clubs.
He joined Cheltenham Town in a half-season move shortly after his move to Ashton Gate, while he spent the entirety of the 2017/18 campaign at National League side AFC Fylde.
The majority of his Football League experience has come during spells at Tranmere Rovers and Oldham, with a total of 68 League Two appearances and a single fourth-tier play-off outing under his belt.

He scored a total of 11 goals and contributed six assists in 32 appearances for the Latics last season and his fine form is set to earn him a move to League One with newly-promoted Swindon.
The Robins were named as League Two champions last season as a result of their points-per-game record, having finished level with Crewe Alexandra who had played one game more.
Bristol City are set to face Swindon in a pre-season friendly on Saturday in what will be the first M4 derby since 2015.
In other Bristol City news, Football Insider have lifted the lid on another attacker’s move away from Ashton Gate.
