Exclusive: Burnley plot Tomas Soucek raid as West Ham approve sale

Burnley are interested in signing West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek but could find it hard to afford a deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder, 30, does not figure in Graham Potter‘s long-term plans at the London Stadium.

Soucek is entering the final year of his contract at West Ham and the club are open to offers for him in this summer’s transfer window.

Burnley are in the market for a new central midfielder this summer and have identified Soucek as a potential target.

However, the overall package of a deal could price him out a move to Turf Moor before the 1 September deadline.

Soucek is one of the longest-serving senior players on the books at West Ham and captained the side on multiple occasions in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Czechia captain made 38 appearances in all competitions last term, notching nine goals and two assists.

He has established himself as one of the Premier League‘s leading aerial threats, having scored 41 goals in 245 games for the Irons.

Soucek arrived in England on an initial loan from Slavia Prague in January 2020 – with the deal eventually becoming permanent later that year.

Burnley confident of keeping star man

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (12 June) that Burnley are confident Maxime Esteve’s £50million price tag will fend off Premier League interest.

Everton and Crystal Palace are keen on the 23-year-old after his exploits for Scott Parker’s side.

Vincent Kompany, who was head coach of the Clarets when the Frenchman arrived at Turf Moor, has also eyed up a potential reunion with Esteve at Bayern Munich.
