Alex Bruce has urged Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke to join Celtic if he gets the chance this summer.

The former Kilmarnock defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the 19-year-old needs to be playing regularly and that a move to Parkhead would be a “fantastic” opportunity.

As revealed by Football Insider, Celtic are plotting to reignite their January interest and move to sign the teenage forward on loan during the summer transfer window.

The Bhoys made an offer to sign Clarke temporarily at the start of the year but he instead joined English Championship side QPR until the end of the current campaign.

However, after seeing the attacking gem make just eight appearances across all competitions for both Leeds and QPR on loan, Bruce believes a move to Celtic could kickstart his career.

Bruce told Football Insider: “I would recommend anyone to go to a club like Celtic to get game time.

“It’s a great club, any young lad who’s got the opportunity to go and play anywhere, I would recommend just to go and do it and if you can join a club like Celtic in the process then fantastic.

“I’m all for it.”

Clarke has not played for the senior side at Spurs since his £10million move from Leeds last summer.

He has made just 33 first-team appearances during his fledgeling career, with five of those coming since he joined QPR in January.
