Exclusive: Celtic teen tipped to be making massive impact in dressing room
Alex Bruce claims that Celtic starlet Jeremie Frimpong will have had a big impact on the Parkhead dressing room since his move from Manchester City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Kilmarnock defender believes the Hoops squad will “love having him around” thanks to his attitude off the pitch.
The 19-year-old arrived at Parkhead last summer as one for the future but has gone on to establish himself as a first-team mainstay under Neil Lennon.
As revealed by Football Insider, the Bhoys are wanting to reward the young right-back with a new and improved contract.
Bruce insists that young and hungry players can have a major impact on the dressing room and he believes Frimpong has given everyone at the club a lift.
Bruce told Football Insider: “There’s nothing better than when a young player comes through that’s full of energy and full of life – it can really impact a dressing room in terms of giving the place the lift, as you can imagine.
“When you see someone that’s got an infectious personality like what he’s got – you only need to look at his interviews on the telly – I can imagine him around the dressing room and I’m sure the lads love having him around.
“He’s given everyone a lift.”
Frimpong has 19 appearances under his belt for the Bhoys so far, including a start in the Scottish League Cup final against Rangers.
He was sent off for a professional foul just after the hour mark at Hampden Park but the Hoops went on to win 1-0.
In other Celtic news, the Bhoys have been tipped to hold fire on a £3.2m ace until pre-season.
