Exclusive: Celtic’s Daniel Kelly jets into London for medical today after U-turn

Celtic attacker Daniel Kelly is flying to London today for his medical at Millwall after they agreed to bring forward his move to now rather than January, sources have told Football Insider.

Kelly is set to sign a three-year deal with the Championship club after he turned down a lucrative contract offer from Celtic.

The 18-year-old had been free to speak to clubs outside Scotland this summer, and Neil Harris convinced him to join Millwall.

Kelly initially signed a pre-contract agreement with the Londoners that would’ve turned into a long-term deal in the new year, but after negotiations he is now free to join Millwall.

This means he will be available to Harris immediately, with the deal expected to be completed soon.

Kelly had been frozen out of the Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad and was playing in the Lowland League for the B team.

Celtic will allow Daniel Kelly to start the next stage of his career sooner than planned

The midfielder has already scored two goals and provided one assist in five appearances this season.

Kelly now has the chance to kick on, as he will be part of Millwall’s first-team squad this season in a deal that will benefit all parties involved.

The teenager brings versatility to Millwall due to his ability to play both defensively and in a more attacking midfield role.
