Exclusive: Christopher Nkunku could quit Chelsea after Man United twist
Christopher Nkunku could push to leave Chelsea after growing unhappy with his lack of game time, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old expects to be a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge, but has started just one Premier League game so far this season.
Despite having made 17 appearances across all competitions, he averages just 40 minutes per game, and has completed 90 minutes just twice.
As a result, Nkunku is set to demand an increase in playing time in Enzo Maresca’s side or he will look for a move to a club who can guarantee a starting place.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that the forward would be interested in a move to Manchester United amid growing interest from the Red Devils.
His current contract at Stamford Bridge is set to run until June 2029, making a potential exit complicated, but sources say interest in his signature is growing.
Christopher Nkunku could push for Chelsea exit amid Man United interest
Nkunku has struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team star under Maresca’s management as a result of the Blues’ inflated squad.
There is a feeling that his ten goals and one assist in 17 games across all competitions should have warranted more trust and game time than he has received.
He remains an important squad player and is just one injury away from moving into the first team, with Nicolas Jackson’s early-season form blocking his path.
However, the rotation of players in different competitions has left him without a regular starting role as he has been forced to play rotationally in the cup competitions.
This is said to have angered the Frenchman, who will look for a move elsewhere should interested clubs look to sign him in the January transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on 14 November that Chelsea are reluctant to let him leave the club as Maresca is keen to keep his squad together after a turbulent summer transfer window.
However, if Nkunku demands to leave the club, they could be left powerless to prevent him from moving away or face having an unhappy player in the squad.
