Exclusive: Coventry City’s Isaac Moore in advanced talks to join Forest Green

Coventry City midfielder Isaac Moore is in advanced talks to join Robbie Savage’s Forest Green on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

Moore is yet to make his senior debut for after coming through the Sky Blues’ academy, but was part of four of Frank Lampard‘s matchday squads in the Championship last season.

The 19-year-old only signed a new contract on 30 June which extends his time at the Coventry Building Society Arena until 2028, and looks set to head out on loan with a view to getting regular game-time.

Moore’s contract comes after he first agreed a professional deal with Coventry as a 17-year-old in 2023, and sources have told Football Insider that a move to the National League North is now “advanced”.

Savage to strengthen Forest Green squad with Moore loan

Forest Green came close to an EFL return last season and finished third in the National League table with 83 points, but lost to Southend United in the play-off semi-finals at the end of the campaign.

That semi-final proved to be the last match in charge for Steve Cotterill and he was replaced in the dugout by Savage, after he led Macclesfield to promotion and the Northern Premier League title.

Moore is one of 15 Coventry youngsters to sign new contracts this summer, and his first step into senior first-team football will give Lampard a chance to determine the teenager’s future prospects in Sky Blue.

Moore’s time will come as Coventry prepare promotion charge

The Sky Blues’ surge up the Championship table last season may have repaired Lampard’s reputation, but the former England midfielder isn’t stopping there in his bid to take Coventry back to the top-flight.

Coventry have quickly looked to recover from their play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland, with Kaine Kesler-Hayden signed from Aston Villa for £3.5million and Miguel Angel Brau arriving on a free transfer.

Moore couldn’t ask for a better on-field role model than his current Coventry boss, but a loan spell under the tutelage of another ex-Premier League midfielder in Savage won’t do the 19-year-old any harm.
