Danny Mills claims Celtic will already have “two or three” players lined up to replace Odsonne Edouard if he leaves this summer.
The former Manchester City full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the club understands the 22-year-old’s departure is “inevitable”.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are the latest club to express an interest in the French striker as they ponder their attacking options for next season.
As revealed by Football Insider today, Edouard is reluctant to enter into new contract negotiations with his current deal due to expire in 2022.
Mills claimed it is almost impossible for the Scottish Premiership to compete with the financial power of the Premier League and La Liga.
“They know it is inevitable,” he told Football Insider.
“When the Premier League or La Liga come knocking there is every chance you will lose out because financially they cannot compete. Whether you like it or not that is a fact.
“Football is not just about money but it is a huge factor. It is probably like Southampton. They have to make sure they have replacements ready. When you are Celtic you have to have a plan for the future.
“They will have two or three lined up to replace Edouard. People will be in mind because if the big boys come in the likelihood is they are going to lose people.”
Edouard has enjoyed another superb season with The Hoops – scoring 27 goals in 45 appearances for the league leaders.
The Bhoys signed the France under-21 international from PSG in the summer of 2018 after impressing on loan the season prior.
