
Exclusive: ‘Darren England should be suspended by PGMOL’ – ‘Huge’ Arsenal update
Keith Hackett believes that Darren England should be suspended following his role in the controversial red card that took place in the Arsenal and Wolves fixture on Saturday (25 January).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former PGMOL chief, ex-FIFA, and Premier League referee believes England needs to be “given operational advice.”
Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off before half-time after he tripped Matt Doherty as the Midlands giants attempted to launch a counter attack, in a decision that has infuriated the footballing world.
The Arsenal squad were visibly stunned about Michael Oliver’s decision in the moment, but England didn’t opt to intervene as he ran VAR for the game which Hackett believes needs punishing.
Darren England needs to be suspended following the Arsenal controversy
England is due to be in charge of VAR for Sunday’s (26 January) Premier League fixture between Crystal Palace and Brentford, which will be televised.
There has yet to be any formal decision regarding a change to the officiating team and England is expected to be working as normal.

Hackett told Football Insider, “Well, given his huge error yesterday in the Arsenal game, Darren England should be taken off this game [Palace vs. Brentford].
“He needs to be served a suspension and given operational advice.”
