Exclusive: Derby County plotting to sign Callum Brittain after contract talks latest
Derby County are plotting a move to sign Blackburn Rovers defender Callum Brittain, sources have told Football Insider.
Brittain is in the final year of his contract at Ewood Park and talks over an extension have yet to secure a breakthrough.
Derby boss Jon Eustace is a big fan of Brittain having worked with him during his time in charge at Rovers and he is keen on a reunion.
Last season, the right-back started 30 Championship games for the Lancashire side, as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs by just two points.
Derby eye move to reunite Eustace and Brittain
Brittain came through the Milton Keynes academy, making 102 appearances for their senior side before a switch to Barnsley in 2020.
The 27-year-old has been playing Championship football ever since, giving him a wealth of experience in the second tier.
During Eustace’s one-year spell at Ewood Park, Brittain was a regular starter at right-back.
The English manager left Blackburn to take over at Derby back in February, saving the Rams from relegation to League One on the final day of the season.
Reinforcements are needed for the Pride Park-based side, however, as they only avoided the drop by a single point.

Reading agree deal to sign Hull City’s Matty Jacob
Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Reading have agreed a deal to sign Hull defender Matty Jacob on loan.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Jacob, but Reading have moved to agree a deal for the 24-year-old left-back.
Jacob is keen on a move away in search of regular first-team football and Hull are happy for him to go out on loan.
Last season, the Englishman started just four times in the Championship for the Tigers, and he didn’t feature in any of the last 16 games of the campaign.
