Exclusive: Everton freeze out David Moyes in shock twist

Everton have yet to speak to David Moyes about his transfer budget, player signings or contracts going into the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Fears are growing among Moyes and his coaching staff that he is being frozen out by US-based owners The Friedkin Group, despite overseeing a dramatic turn of fortunes since returning as manager.

Moyes had expected to hold sit-down talks with the owners and club executives about signing plans, contracts and transfers in and out of the club.

Meanwhile, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Moyes would play a big role in recruitment after earning the trust of the new ownership.

However, in a shock twist, he has yet to hear from the club chiefs.

This comes amid widescale changes to the Toffees’ executive team which have included the hiring of a new CEO in Angus Kinnear, and the departure of sporting director Kevin Thelwell.

David Moyes dealt transfer blow after Everton board decision

Football Insider revealed Everton are planning to back Moyes in the summer transfer window by keeping their best players and spending big on new talent.

Following The Friedkin Group’s takeover, the Toffees are expected to have plenty of funds available and are planning to be ambitious in the market.

With the window set to open next month, Moyes is believed to have been making plans for where he would like to improve his squad and identifying players to fit that mould.

Football Insider revealed that Moyes wants to sign Brighton star Evan Ferguson and has made his ambitions to sign the centre-forward clear to the club.

However, no formal talks have been held between the manager and the board as things stand, raising concerns about his place in their plans for the future.

Liam Delap update emerges amid Man United interest

Despite the lack of formal discussions behind the scenes at Everton, a number of players have been identified by both the manager and the board ahead of the window.

Mick Brown, who worked closely with Moyes at West Ham, told Football Insider that Everton are holding talks with Liam Delap behind the scenes.

The Toffees are aware that interest from Man United, Chelsea and Newcastle will make the deal difficult, but are prepared to do everything they can to convince him.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man United are leading the race for Delap ahead of both Chelsea and Newcastle.
