Exclusive: Everton transfer chief in talks to join PSV

Everton head of recruitment Dan Purdy is in talks to join PSV Eindhoven, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees’ former sporting director Marcel Brands heads up the PSV recruitment operation and is now working on a deal to lure Purdy to the Netherlands.

Brands’ move for Purdy comes as The Friedkin Group finalise a takeover at Everton.

The 30-year-old’s potential switch could bring a shake-up of the recruitment team at Goodison Park as US billionaire Dan Friedkin prepares to start his new era on Merseyside.

Purdy left his role as scouting and operations manager at Everton in 2022 after Brands departed the club, but returned just months later.

Director of football Kevin Thelwell convinced him to return to Finch Farm in March 2023 as part of his restructure.

Purdy joined Everton in 2014 as a performance analysis intern before being promoted to technical scout in 2016 and scouting and operations manager in 2019.

Uncertainty over the transfer chief’s future comes just weeks before the start of the January transfer window, which could be crucial to the Toffees’ Premier League survival.

Everton swooped for Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye, Tim Iroegbunam, Jesper Lindstrom, Asmir Begovic, Armando Broja and Orel Mangala in the summer transfer window.

It has been widely reported that Dan Friedkin could complete his takeover before the new year, potentially freeing up funds for January transfer spending at Goodison Park.
