Exclusive: Everton will accept Tim Iroegbunam offer

Everton are planning to explore different options for offloading midfielder Tim Iroegbunam in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees signed the 22-year-old from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024 for a reported fee of around £9million.

Sources say that the Merseyside outfit may be willing to accept less than they originally paid for Iroegbunam, in order to sell him in the new year. A loan deal is also a possibility.

David Moyes does not see the Englishman as a key part of his future plans, which could mean he departs in January.

Tim Iroegbunam struggling for Everton minutes

Iroegbunam was praised for his performance in Everton’s 2-0 win over Fulham just before the international break.

It was just the fourth Premier League game that the former Aston Villa man had started all season though, highlighting his overall lack of minutes.

Since the start of the campaign, James Garner has been excellent in Moyes’ midfield, partnered by veteran Idrissa Gana Gueye.

The form of Garner and Gueye has left Iroegbunam struggling for game time in general, and could lead to a January exit for the youngster.

The Merseyside club have an interest in the former Manchester United midfielder as they assess potential midfield options.

Sources say Everton boss Moyes sees McTominay as a talismanic presence in the mould of his former totem Marouane Fellaini, with the ability to get forward and cause chaos in the opposition box.

McTominay, 28, has been a big success in Serie A since joining in 2024 and has a contract at Napoli until the summer of 2028.
