Exclusive: Everton’s ‘concrete’ Ivan Toney plan revealed

Everton have a “concrete” interest in signing Ivan Toney in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Toney joined Al-Ahli from Brentford for £40million in 2024, but a sensational return to the Premier League is firmly on the cards.

Sources say the 29-year-old believes his best chance of making it into Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad is through a return to English football.

Toney could leave Al-Ahli on loan in January, and numerous clubs have shown an interest in his signature.

Everton have advantage over West Ham in race for Ivan Toney

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Toney, as they struggle with a centre-forward crisis under Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, sources say that Everton are being seen by the player and his camp as a better fit for the former Brentford man, as he is a classic David Moyes player.

Moyes is determined to bring in a new striker amid concerns around the form of current centre-forward Beto.

That is according to former Man United and West Ham senior scout Mick Brown, who claims that work is already ongoing to identify options to replace the 27-year-old.

The Netherlands international is out of favour under Ruben Amorim, and could be in line for a move away in January.

Football Insider revealed that Zirkzee could quit Man United after growing unhappy with his lack of game time.

However, West Ham, Como, and Juventus are also in the race for the 24-year-old, so the Toffees would have to act quickly to seal a deal.
