The in-form AZ Alkmaar forward enhanced his growing reputation with two goals in a stunning display in Republic of Ireland’s 2-0 victory over Portugal in Dublin on Thursday.

A host of clubs across Europe have been keeping tabs on the former Tottenham youngster who has scored 13 goals in 14 games domestically for AZ.

Troy Parrott’s career kickstarted by AZ Alkmaar move

Ireland need to beat Hungary in their final World Cup qualifying group stage match to be able to finish in the top two of their group.

Against Portugal, Parrott was selected to start ahead of Celtic striker Johnny Kenny and Swansea’s Adam Idah.

Parrott joined AZ Alkmaar from Tottenham in the summer transfer window after seven years in north London.

The striker had spells on loan during his time at Tottenham to a host of football league club’s, but a permanent move to AZ Alkmaar has kickstarted his career.

The Dutch club also play in the Europa Conference League, and Parrott recently started the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Tottenham in the market for a new striker

Parrott made just four senior appearances for Tottenham, but Thomas Frank will be in the market for a new forward.

Dominic Solanke’s injury problems have hampered the 28-year-old, who hasn’t made an appearance since August, whilst Randal Kolo Muani was forced off against Man United last time out.

Richarlison could return to Everton in January, leaving Frank short of options, and doing business in the winter window will be tricky
