Fulham have made an approach to sign Wolves defender Ryan Bennett, Football Insider understands.
The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City but it is understood that both the player and the club would rather secure a permanent move before October’s transfer deadline.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Premier League rivals Fulham have initially asked about a temporary deal.
The Londoners are assessing various options to bolster the heart of their defence after a number of moves failed to materialise.
They had been interested in Sassuolo defender Marlon but the deal fell through after he reportedly failed a medical.
As detailed on Tuesday morning, Fulham have also target Crystal Palace Scott Dann, who has been made available for sale.
Bennett would offer vast Premier League experience for Scott Parker’s side with 111 top-flight appearances to his name.
However, he has fallen out of favour under Nuno and has not been given a squad number this season.
His current Wolves contract runs out in the summer of next year and the Midlands club are now keen to move him on.
Wolves signed Bennett in 2017 and he played a key role in the side that won the 2017/18 Championship title.
However, he was limited to just 11 Premier League games for Wolves last season before he played five times for Leicester after signing in January.
