Exclusive: Hutton raves over ‘Top-quality’ Leeds star who’s a nightmare to play against
Alan Hutton has been left raving over Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich after his match-winning performance against Middlesbrough.
The former Aston Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Polish midfielder’s late runs can be a nightmare to try and defend against.
Klich scored the only goal of the game on Wednesday to give Marcelo Bielsa’s men all three points at the Riverside, the 29-year-old latching on to Pablo Hernandez’s through ball in the box.
Hutton, who played against Klich for both club and country, says the Polish international has impressed him for a couple of years now, comparing him to the likes of Tottenham star Dele Alli.
“It’s one of the difficult things as a defender, the likes of him, Dele Alli, these kind of guys, midfielders, who make late runs into the box,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“As a defender you’re trying to look after wingers and attackers but these guys who can time their run, they’re so difficult to mark and I’ve been really impressed with him for a couple of seasons now.
“I think he’s been one of the main players for them. Even his ability to strike the ball outside the box, I think he’s a top-quality player.”
Klich is a firm favourite of Bielsa, having started every single one of the club’s 35 Championship fixtures this season.
He played nearly every single game for the Whites last season, the 2-1 defeat to QPR in the FA Cup his only absence.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set sights on signing two players from a Europa League side.
