Exclusive: Ipswich Town eye move for Bristol City’s Anis Mehmeti
Ipswich are eyeing a move for Bristol City attacker Anis Mehmeti before the close of the window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and Ipswich are hoping to prize him away to boost their push for a return to the Premier League.
Bristol City remain in talks over a new deal, but Ipswich are ready to test their resolve to keep hold of him.
Mehmeti has contributed nine goals and six assists across 30 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
The 25-year-old has proven himself as one of the best attacking players in the Championship since joining the club in the 2023 January transfer window.

How good is Anis Mehmeti?
With Ipswich eyeing attacking additions this transfer window, Mehmeti has proven to be one of the best in the Championship this season.
According to Fotmob, the 25-year-old is averaging 0.32 goals, 2.87 shots, 1.87 chances created and a 0.32 xG all as an attacking midfielder.
| Anis Mehmeti’s Championship stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0.32 |
| Shots | 2.87 |
| Shots on target | 1.08 |
| xG | 0.32 |
| Chances created | 1.87 |
| Assists | 0.24 |
| xA | 0.21 |
Therefore, Kieran McKenna will be hoping this form can be added to his squad before deadline day, in a move that would also weaken a promotion rival.
As it stands, the Tractor Boys are third in the Championship, two points off second and seven clear of Bristol City in ninth.
With the Robins three points off the playoffs, they will be keen to keep hold of Mehmeti as they look to get back into the playoffs.
Ipswich remain on the hunt for a striker
On top of their pursuit of Mehmeti, McKenna is also keen on a new striker before the end of the transfer window.
Football Insider revealed last week that Ipswich were winning the race for West Ham’s Callum Wilson.
However, Wilson now looks set to stay at the London Stadium after the 33-year-old striker netted a late winner against Tottenham on the weekend.
On top of this, Ipswich have also missed out on Patrick Bamford, who has now signed a new deal with Sheffield United after impressing at the Blades in recent weeks.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if McKenna can attract a striker to Portman Road before the end of the transfer window as Ipswich eye an immediate return to the Premier League.
