Exclusive: ‘Kevin De Bruyne guilty of diving and deceiving the referee’
Keith Hackett believes Man City star Kevin de Bruyne should have been given a yellow card during their match against Leicester City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former PGMOL chief, ex-FIFA, and Premier League referee believes that Michael Oliver was “obviously in a Christmas mood” as the Belgium international wasn’t punished for the incident.
The defending Premier League champions got back to winning ways by defeating the Foxes 2-0 at the King Power Stadium courtesy of goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland.
The 33-year-old looked to gain his team a penalty in the first half after a challenge from Jannik Vestergaard, but Oliver waved away the appeal.
No further action was taken in this scenario though, with De Bruyne receiving no punishment for his simulation which would usually be the case.
Kevin de Bruyne was guilty of simulation for Man City
Hackett told Football Insider, “A big let-off in the first half for Kevin de Bruyne who was clearly guilty of trying to deceive the referee and win a penalty kick by an act of simulation.

“De Bruyne’s was a clear yellow card and a clear act of simulation.
“I was surprised that he wasn’t yellow-carded.”
