Exclusive: Leeds and Brighton in race to sign Jens Hjerto-Dahl

Leeds United, Brighton and Bournemouth have entered the race to sign Norway sensation Jens Hjerto-Dahl, sources have told Football Insider.

Hjerto-Dahl has been earning rave reviews for Tromso and Norway’s Under-21s side, and his displays have placed him on the radar of a host of top European clubs.

Premier League trio Brighton, Bournemouth and Leeds have made regular checks on the 20-year-old and see him as one of Scandinavia’s brightest talents to emerge in recent years.

The talented central midfielder has been directly involved in 10 goals so far this season, registering four goals and six assists in the Eliteserien and Conference League qualifiers.

His contract with his boyhood club Tromso is set to expire in 2027, raising interest in his potential availability ahead of the January transfer window.

Despite being just 20 years old, Hjerto-Dalh has already made 87 senior appearances for Tromso and is regarded as one of Norway’s top young talents.

He has also made six appearances for his country’s Under-21s side and is being hotly tipped for big things, with a move to a top five league potentially his next step.

Alongside the Premier League trio of Brighton, Bournemouth and Leeds, there is also interest growing from clubs in the Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1.

The midfielder could follow in the footsteps of his fellow countrymen Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland, both of whom moved to Europe’s top leagues to further their careers.

Brighton have built a reputation for impressive youth recruitment, while Bournemouth and Leeds are keen to bring in young players for the future.

Leeds United’s January transfer priority revealed

Leeds’ interest in Hjerto-Dahl comes as they aim to bolster Daniel Farke‘s squad in the January transfer window while also recruiting players for the future.

Football Insider revealed last month that Leeds want to sign a midfielder and a winger in the mid-season window to strengthen in key areas.

An attack-minded midfielder would give them a different dimension to the likes of Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff who arrived at Elland Road during the summer.

Hjerto-Dahl’s impressive attacking record this season mean he could be viewed as an option to bolster their depth in a key position when the window opens.

While any deal for the Norway Under-21 midfielder would likely be with the future in mind, there is hope he could establish himself as a regular in the Premier League.
