Exclusive: Leeds United lay the groundwork for January transfer spree
Leeds United are preparing to make more money available to manager Daniel Farke for the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Whites are vying to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking after failing in that mission under Farke last term.
Leeds currently sit third in the Championship after three games with relegated Sheffield United and Burnley currently occupying the automatic promotion spots.
Farke’s side endured a summer of upheaval before the 2024-25 season got underway, with last season’s star men Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray all departing.
Glen Kamara, who was a virtual ever-present for Leeds as they reached the play-off final last term, also left for French side Rennes.
The Whites signed the likes of Largie Ramazani, Ao Tanaka and Jayden Bogle to boost their squad but are now exploring the possibility of adding more new arrivals in the new year.
Leeds could hand Farke new transfer kitty in January
Injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev will also be taken into consideration, with both players currently sidelined due to knee issues.
Josuha Guilavogui was brought in on a free transfer to bolster the defensive midfield area but has played only 32 minutes, and a more robust replacement could be sought out in January.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (1 December) that Farke’s side could swoop for FC Nordsjælland left-back Daniel Svensson in the new year after he recently broke into the senior Sweden side.

Meanwhile, Leeds are continuing to score ample goals in the race for promotion, with their tally of 31 bettered only by fifth-place Middlesbrough.
The Whites host Derby on Saturday (7 December) before travelling to Boro next week (10 December).
