Exclusive: Leicester City set sights on signing striker in January

Leicester City are keen to reinforce their attack with a new forward signing in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has arrived at the King Power Stadium and is assessing his squad ahead of the new year.

In a new twist following the Dutchman’s appointment, sources told Football Insider on Monday (2 December) that Leicester are considering terminating Odsonne Edouard’s loan deal at the club in January.

The 26-year-old has not impressed for the Midlands club and they are now weighing up cancelling the agreement.

That would allow Leicester to make another Premier League loan signing in January, which could prove crucial to their survival prospects.

Sources say the Foxes would likely move to add another striker if Edouard is allowed to return to Crystal Palace.

Leicester could replace Edouard with new forward

Jamie Vardy is the undisputed first-choice striker at the King Power Stadium, scoring four goals in 12 Premier League appearances this term.

On-loan Brighton star Facundo Buonanotte is the club’s joint-top scorer this term, also netting four strikes in the top flight.

Van Nistelrooy’s side sit 16th in the Premier League table after the 4-1 loss away at Brentford on Saturday (30 November).
