Exclusive: Luton Town, Reading and Stevenage in race to sign West Ham’s Gideon Kodua

West Ham winger Gideon Kodua is wanted by Luton Town, Reading, Leyton Orient, and Stevenage, sources have told Football Insider.

The EFL quartet have expressed their interest in signing the 20-year-old forward.

Kodua is likely to find himself down the pecking order at West Ham next season and they are open to loaning him out again.

He has spent the last 18 months out on loan at Wycombe Wanderers to gain valuable first-team experience.

League One teams pursue FA Youth Cup-winning captain

Kodua joined the West Ham academy back in 2017 and has come through the ranks at the East London club.

In 2023, the 20-year-old captained the Hammers to the FA Youth Cup success, scoring a goal in the final as the young Irons side beat Arsenal 5-1.

However, Kodua is yet to make a senior appearance for West Ham and is looking for another loan away to ensure he receives adequate game time.

Last season during his loan spell at Wycombe, the forward made 20 appearances in the third tier but only managed two starts.

He is now being pursued by the League One sides Luton, Reading, Leyton Orient, and Stevenage, who all want to give him another chance in the division.

Charlton agree deal for Blackpool star

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal to sign Blackpool midfielder Rob Apter in a deal worth over £2million, sources have told Football Insider.

The London club are finalising a deal for the 22-year-old after having a bid accepted.

The agreement comes after Charlton had a number of initial offers knocked back by Blackpool.

Apter enjoyed an impressive campaign with Blackpool last season, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.
