Exclusive: Man City green light Jaden Heskey transfer after contact made

Manchester City have given the green light to send young star Jaden Heskey out on loan in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Clubs from the Championship and League One are chasing the attacking midfielder, 19, ahead of the mid-season window.

Heskey is highly regarded within the corridors of power at Man City and he made his first-team debut earlier this season in the Carabao Cup win at Huddersfield Town.

A number of EFL clubs have made enquiries about signing the rising star for the second half of the season.

City are prepared to loan Heskey out so that he can gain valuable first-team experience.

Heskey is ready for a loan spell after impressive Man City youth form

Heskey comes from a footballing family, with his father Emile a famed Premier League and England striker, while his brother Reigan also made his senior debut for City against Huddersfield last month.

The 19-year-old joined the Citizens’ academy aged eight and signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2023 after working his way through their youth ranks.

He notched three goals and four assists in 19 Premier League 2 appearances last season as City’s Under-21s won the title and has registered four assists in nine games already in this campaign.

Football Insider revealed in September that Sheffield Wednesday wanted to sign Heskey for the season ahead as they targeted loans to bolster their squad, but an agreement was not reached for him to move to the second-tier.

Pep Guardiola admitted that it was “really cool” to give him and his brother their City debuts against Huddersfield, and the 19-year-old is now set for the next step in his career in January.

City want to tie Phil Foden down to a new deal

Heskey will be aiming to make it into the Citizens’ first-team squad in the years to come, with a number of their academy graduates already shining under Guardiola in recent seasons.

Phil Foden is one of those, and he has been much-improved in this campaign compared to the last, with four goals and three assists in 13 appearances so far.

Sources have told Football Insider that Foden is happy at Man City and wants to sign fresh terms, with his recent recall to the England squad proving that he is back to his best.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (7 November) that Man City are set to open contract talks with Foden, with a big-money deal in the pipeline to tie him down past his existing 2027 expiry date.
