Exclusive: Man United left reeling by ‘poisonous’ mood inside the club

The mood inside Man United is “poisonous” and “at an all-time low”, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-time league champions have just appointed Ruben Amorim days after sacking Erik ten Hag due to on-field performances.

But well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the club’s staff are still reeling after the huge cost-cutting overseen by the INEOS regime.

One surviving employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the atmosphere at Old Trafford among ordinary staff is currently “terrible”, “poisonous” and “at an all-time low”.

The employee explained they “could not wait to leave every day” and any time spent working to the club outside of its offices and training ground is said to be far preferable.

Staff at United are unhappy at the departure of longstanding colleagues and friends as the club looks to save money with a swathe of unpopular moves.

Man United staff are reeling over the club’s decision-making

The Premier League giants controversially made 250 staff members redundant during the summer in an extreme bloodletting that Football Insider revealed helped the club save around £10million annually.

United also decided to cut Sir Alex Ferguson’s multi-million ambassadorial contract, which has added to the tension among staff at the club.

The 82-year-old is set to remain part of the furniture in a non-executive director role, but staff and fans did not welcome the decision.

On the field, United have made a dreadful start to the season and are placed 13th in the league ahead of Amorim’s arrival next week.

Amorim will officially take charge of the team from Monday (11 November), with his first game being against Ipswich Town after the next international break.
