Exclusive: Man United staff left stunned by latest ‘appalling’ INEOS decision
Man United owners INEOS have left many stunned with their string of “appalling” decisions made since arriving at the club, according to the club’s former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during their most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that members of staff are unhappy about the recent decisions.
Firstly, cost-cutting measures saw 250 of United’s long-serving and dedicated employees dismissed from their roles, kicking off initial murmurs of disgruntlement.
More recently, those cost-cutting decisions have seen ticket prices rocket amid protests from sections of the fanbase outside of Old Trafford, which were dismissed by the owners.
In a statement reacting to the protests, as per BBC Sport, Man United defended their recent actions, stating: “As a club, we have been focused on cost saving to put us on a stronger financial footing.
“This means having to make very hard decisions, including a significant reduction in our staff numbers.
“It also means looking for opportunities to increase our revenues so we can continue to invest in football and infrastructure.“
Since then, the decision was made to cut staff bonuses at Christmas, and reports have now claimed that the morale amongst staff is “on the floor”.
Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that INEOS were forced to backtrack on a decision to revoke tickets and privileges given to the families of the Busby Babes after Sir Alex Ferguson intervened.
INEOS slammed for ‘appalling’ Man United decisions
There is an ever-growing list of controversial decisions being made behind the scenes at United, leaving many nervous about their futures and stripping the club of its former identity.
Brown, who worked closely with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson during his time at Old Trafford, has insisted that the club has been allowed to stray too far from the values it once upheld as a result of INEOS’ ownership.
“I’ve been staggered and amazed at the attitude of INEOS,” he told Football Insider.
“I don’t know where they learnt their staff management skills, but they’ve been appalling.
“First of all, as far as I can see, they’re agents of the Glazers and the first thing they do is make sure the Glazers and themselves get their money passed to them.
“Never mind the club, the club has to pay for it in some way.
“They’ve gotten rid of loyal workers who have been brought up with Manchester United DNA, ethics and policies over the last 30 or 40 years.
“They get rid of them and bring somebody in who they can pay less wages to – that’s what it’s about.
“I know people who have been amazed by the way they were so quick to get rid of them.
“Eventually, though, the chickens will come home to roost because all they’ve done from a personnel point of view is they’ve made huge numbers of their employees unhappy.

“I think as a PR stunt, and that’s exactly what all of this is, it’s been a disaster.
“I have no faith in this mob whatsoever, I don’t think they understand the game, I don’t think they understand people, and they’re ripping the heart and soul out of this football club.“
