Exclusive: Arsenal set sights on signing Marcello de Barros
Arsenal are plotting to sign St Mirren sensation Marcello de Barros and take him on a potential trial, sources have told Football Insider.
The Under-15s defender is highly regarded in Scotland and his potential has brought him onto the radar of a number of top Premier League clubs.
Arsenal are keen to take the left-sided centre-back on trial so they can look at him at close quarters after he hugely impressed their scouts.
The Premier League giants were among a number of clubs who watched de Barros in action for Scotland’s Under-15s in a tournament in Serbia at the back end of last month.

Arsenal’s famed Hale End Academy has produced some of the country’s best young talents in recent years, most notably current ‘starboy’ Bukayo Saka.
In their recent 5-1 League Cup win over Bolton, Mikel Arteta fielded seven academy graduates, making Jack Porter their youngest-ever goalkeeper at just 16.

Seventeen-year-old midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is the latest to truly burst onto the scene, scoring a brace in the 5-1 win and coming off the bench for the last five minutes in their 1-0 North London derby win over Tottenham.
Arteta’s side next face a struggling Southampton side in the Premier League on Saturday (October 5) as they seek to finally break Man City’s tight grip on the title this season.
