Exclusive: Middlesbrough in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth’s Mark Travers
Middlesbrough are in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
Boro are short of goalkeeping cover with Sol Brynn and Seny Dieng both currently sidelined – meaning third-choice keeper Tom Glover has had to fill in between the sticks in recent weeks.
Riverside Stadium boss Michael Carrick is keen to strengthen his goalkeeping options and is interested in taking Republic of Ireland international Travers on loan.
The 25-year-old has found himself second choice at Bournemouth this term behind loan signing Kepa Arrizabalaga.
However, the shot-stopper has impressed when called upon this season – conceding only five goals in five Premier League games and keeping one clean sheet.
He has been on the bench for all of Bournemouth’s other fixtures in the 2024-25 campaign.
Travers has made 82 appearances for the Cherries in total after joining from Shamrock Rovers in 2016 – with the majority of those outings coming in the Championship.
Middlesbrough want Travers to resolve goalkeeper crisis
The goalkeeper also had a brief spell on loan with second-tier Stoke in the 2023-24 campaign.
His contract at the Vitality Stadium runs until June 2027.
Carrick’s Middlesbrough sit seventh in the Championship after losing 2-1 away at struggling Portsmouth on Saturday (18 January).

Glover has started the last five games for injury-hit Boro, who are now looking to resolve their goalkeeping struggles before the 3 February deadline.
The Teeside club are next in action against West Brom on Tuesday (21 January).
