Middlesbrough are plotting a raid for West Brom midfielder John Swift, sources have told Football Insider.
Albion are open to offers for the 29-year-old this summer, opening the door for Michael Carrick’s team to make a bid.
Swift is entering the final year of his contract at the Hawthorns, and the club are willing to cash in on him to raise funds.
Selling the goalscoring midfielder will also free up space in the squad for newer signings throughout the window.
Sources say that Middlesbrough are admirers of the former Chelsea youngster and have registered their interest in a move for him.

After finishing just outside the playoff positions last season in the Championship, Middlesbrough hopes to push one step further this time.
Adding some experienced quality to the team will certainly bolster Carrick’s ability to achieve that, which is where Swift could come in.
The midfielder has played 299 games in the Championship throughout his career and understands the league better than most.
He’s also incredibly versatile as he’s played in countless positions over the years, although he’s primarily been an attacking midfielder.

One thing that Swift does guarantee is goals, as he’s scored 76 times in his footballing career in 393 appearances.
Boasting 70 assists, he would also bring a lot of chance creation to the Riverside Stadium if he were to sign.
