Newcastle United are set to confirm the free signing of Kyle Scott today (Thursday, 25 July) on a two-year deal, Football Insider understands.

The midfielder was left without a club this summer after his contract expired at Premier League giants Chelsea, leaving London with one first-team appearance under his belt at Stamford Bridge

A source at Newcastle United has told Football Insider that the 21-year-old's capture is set to be secured and announced today, with a two-year deal signed at St James' Park.

Scott will be Newcastle's second signing of the summer, the Magpies having confirmed the capture of Brazilian forward Joelinton for what is a record-breaking fee at St James' Park.

The promising talent is a versatile player who can operate in central, defensive or attacking midfield roles and Newcastle believe he has the potential to make a mark on the first-team in the near future.

While game time was limited in Chelsea's first-team, he had a spell out on loan in Holland with Telstar last season, while he was a regular for the Blues' under-23s, playing 41 times, scoring twice and chipping in with eight assists.
