Newcastle United are set to confirm the free signing of Kyle Scott today (Thursday, 25 July) on a two-year deal, Football Insider understands.
The midfielder was left without a club this summer after his contract expired at Premier League giants Chelsea, leaving London with one first-team appearance under his belt at Stamford Bridge
A source at Newcastle United has told Football Insider that the 21-year-old’s capture is set to be secured and announced today, with a two-year deal signed at St James’ Park.
Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this month that the player had agreed personal terms with the north east club and that he has already undergone a medical on Tyneside to complete the move.
Scott will be Newcastle’s second signing of the summer, the Magpies having confirmed the capture of Brazilian forward Joelinton for what is a record-breaking fee at St James’ Park.
The promising talent is a versatile player who can operate in central, defensive or attacking midfield roles and Newcastle believe he has the potential to make a mark on the first-team in the near future.
While game time was limited in Chelsea’s first-team, he had a spell out on loan in Holland with Telstar last season, while he was a regular for the Blues’ under-23s, playing 41 times, scoring twice and chipping in with eight assists.
In other Newcastle United news, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light for the club to pounce for a senior player at St James’ Park.
