Exclusive: Nottingham Forest could get extra £15m after stadium plans revealed
Nottingham Forest could earn more than £15million in extra revenue after they complete their stadium expansion, sources have told Football Insider.
As part of owner Evangelos Marinakis’s ambitious plans, Forest have been considering their options to expand the City Ground for several years.
Forest received planning permission in June to demolish and rebuild the Peter Taylor Stand – increasing the stadium’s capacity from 30,000 to 35,000 – but those plans have since been shelved.
It has been revealed the Premier League club are now exploring alternative proposals that would take the City Ground’s capacity to around 45,000.
Sources say Forest could increase their matchday revenue by more than £15m if they receive the necessary approval to add a further 15,000 seats.

Nottingham Forest make stadium move to match Liverpool
There has long been debate in Nottingham around the best stadium option for Forest, who have played at their existing home since 1898.
Marinakis had been considering building a new stadium outside of the city centre before a dispute over the freehold at the City Ground was resolved earlier this year.
The focus is now firmly around how Forest can capitalise on matchday opportunities at their stadium, having spent the past three years in the Premier League.

The Athletic reported on 10 October Forest are using London-based architectural firm KSS Group, which oversaw Liverpool’s recent expansion at Anfield, to help with their new-look stadium plans.
However, the news outlet claimed obtaining planning permission will be “far from straightforward” for the East Midlands club given the challenges they faced getting approval for their previous proposals.
How much matchday revenue do Nottingham Forest generate?
Forest posted a club-record revenue in their latest published accounts for 2023-24 after their turnover improved from £155m in 2022-23 to £190m.
Meanwhile, their matchday income at the City Ground increased slightly from £11.1m to £14.4m across the same period.
Forest’s opportunities to boost their matchday revenue further will be entirely dependent on whether they can avoid relegation this season.

Following the sackings of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche has now been appointed as the Forest manager.
The Reds currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, four points behind fourth-bottom Burnley after 10 games.
Dyche is now preparing his side to take on Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday (6 November), while they will host Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday (9 November).
