Exclusive: Nottingham Forest to alter Elliot Anderson price tag amid Man City latest

Nottingham Forest are likely to increase their £100million asking price for Elliot Anderson next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent months, and his performances have seen him become one of the hottest properties in the Premier League ahead of the January transfer window.

Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Manchester City are planning to step up their pursuit of Anderson to beat United to a deal, with the pair both heavily linked with the England international over the last few weeks.

However, sources have now indicated that there is “no chance” of either being able to secure a deal until at least next summer, given Anderson’s importance to Forest’s relegation fight.

Elliot Anderson’s pricetag to increase next summer

Anderson is a top target for Manchester City, although their city rivals are also prepared to vie with them to try and secure the signature of the starlet.

However, Forest are set to make any move impossible for the 23-year-old in January, with Pep Guardiola’s side also reluctant to spend £100m in the middle of the campaign.

Anderson is expected to be a crucial part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next summer’s World Cup in North America, and some strong displays there could give Forest even more power.

Sources have told Football Insider that the East Midlands outfit are prepared to raise their asking price for Anderson even further if he stars for England during the international tournament.

Elliot Anderson wants Man City over Man United

Anderson’s own preference is to join Manchester City when he does eventually leave the City Ground, with a move to Old Trafford providing less appeal to him at the moment.

The Citizens are understood to have already had scouts watching the Forest star on more than 10 seperate occasions already this season.

There has also been interest from his former club Newcastle United, but the expectation is that they ultimately won’t be able to truly compete with the pair of Manchester giants to secure a deal.

However, Forest appear to be the real winners for now, as they look set to keep hold of their star man, and could then even see their hand strengthen in relation to his future next summer.
