Exclusive: Premier League sides eye Fleetwood Town’s Conor Haughey
A number of Premier League and Championship sides are keeping tabs on Fleetwood’s teenage sensation Conor Haughey, sources have told Football Insider.
Haughey, 18, has broken into the first-team at Fleetwood this season, making three appearances in the EFL Trophy before making his League Two debut on New Year’s Day against Grimsby.
The Northern Ireland Under-19 international impressed in Fleetwood’s run to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup last season, scoring the winner against Premier League Burnley in the last round.
Several clubs higher up the football pyramid are weighing up moves for Haughey this month or they could move for the talented teenager in the summer.

Conor Haughey could soon depart Fleetwood Town
Despite only making his Fleetwood Town debut recently, it has quickly become clear that Haughey has potential.
The defender did not look out of place in the 1-0 defeat against Grimsby as he went on to play 73 minutes of the game, despite starting on the bench.
Fleetwood Town have already sold Ryan Graydon to Salford City this January, and with promotion to League One looking unlikely, multiple sides are looking to pounce for Haughey.

More and more Premier League and Championship sides are looking towards the EFL to find upcoming players, and the 18-year-old appears to be the latest.
How good is Haughey?
When he has played in the Vertu Trophy, Haughey has plenty of hit and miss statistics.
According to Fotmob on 9 January, the defender is seemingly exceptional on the ball, completing 93.3 per cent of his passes.
However, his defending attributes may need working on, with Haughey only winning 30 per cent of his duels.
| Conor Haughey’s Vertu Trophy stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Shots on target | 0.33 |
| Passing accuracy | 93.3% |
| Accurate long balls | 62.5% |
| Tackles | 0.33 |
| Duels won | 30% |
| Aerial duels won | 40% |
| Recoveries | 4.33 |
Nevertheless, there is every indication that Haughey could follow in Reece Wilkes’s footsteps and depart Fleetwood for a Championship club.
Now, the defender will be hoping to be involved against Port Vale in the FA Cup third round tie on Friday and prove that he is capable of remaining in the Cod Army’s squad in the meantime.
