Exclusive: Pundit suggests Everton capable of persuading club to sell prolific goalscorer

Alan Hutton suggested Everton are capable of persuading Rangers to sell them attacker Alfredo Morelos.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Gers defender spoke on the Toffees’ pursuit of Morelos and claimed if they wanted a striker then the Colombian could be ideal.

Football Insider revealed that the Toffees had set their sights on the Gers striker and are planning to keep assessing his talents ahead of the summer window.

It was previously revealed by Football Insider that the Gers won’t sell Morelos in January even for a gargantuan fee.

However, Hutton didn’t rule out the Toffees being able to eventually persuade Steven Gerrard’s side to sell them Morelos as depending on the figure they offer, it could be difficult to reject.

When asked if Everton are the perfect club for Morelos as he’ll likely get opportunities to play, Hutton told Football Insider: “Yeah well from watching Everton recently they’ve played with Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, so obviously there is space there for a striker

“If that’s what they’re looking for…he is a goalscorer.

“Yes he is unproven in the Premier League, but he has scored goals in Europe regularly as well as the league in Scotland.

“So he has got a good pedigree, it doesn’t surprise me, he’s scored that much so I think there will be a lot of teams interested in him.

“I don’t think Rangers will want to sell him as he’s a key part of the team.

“But you know how it is, depending on the figure we’re talking, it could be difficult to say no.”

Morelos has been in red-hot form this season with him scoring 27 goals in 33 appearances.

The 23-year-old has been at Ibrox since joining from Finish side HJK Helsinki in July 2017 and is contracted to stay with the Scottish club until 2023.

In other Everton news, it can be REVEALED that Carlo Ancelotti has sought assurances over the futures of two players before agreeing to sign up as manager.
