Exclusive: Rangers and Celtic register interest in Kieron Bowie

Celtic and Rangers and a handful of English Championship sides have registered their interest in signing Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie in this month’s transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old, who is expected to be involved in Scotland’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, is also attracting interest from clubs in Italy and Belgium.

Sources say Hibs are keen to keep hold of Bowie, but they are bracing themselves for interest in this month’s transfer window.

Bowie has impressed for Hibs this season with eight goals in all competitions and his performances have brought him onto the radar of Celtic and Rangers as well as English sides.

Kieron Bowie continues to be linked away from Hibernian

This is not the first time in recent weeks that Bowie has been linked with a Hibernian exit.

Wolves were reportedly keeping tabs on Bowie as a potential long-term replacement for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and scouted the striker during the Edinburgh derby at the end of 2025.

This interest will come as little surprise to the Easter Road faithful, given the striker’s wonderful form this season.

So far, Bowie has netted eight times in all competitions and provided three assists in 27 matches.

With Celtic and Rangers both struggling up top this season, the Hibs star could prove to be the solution to their problems as they both push for the Scottish Premiership title.

What has David Gray said about the Bowie transfer speculation?

With Hibs aiming to qualify for Europe yet again this season, they are not keen to lose some of their best players mid-season.

Bowie has proven to be vital in recent weeks, and the striker even netted against Hearts as they beat their rivals 3-2 in the Edinburgh derby.

Now, with speculation mounting on the futures of both Bowie and Josh Mulligan, manager David Gray has addressed the situation.

He told the Daily Record on 1 January: “I think all the two can do is keep doing what they’re doing. So I think they need to keep working hard, which is the biggest benefit.

“I say it all the time about them two is they’re getting all the plaudits at the moment because of their level of performance, but they’re really hard-working, humble boys that are enjoying their football.

“That’s the most important thing. Their carrot’s still going to be there for them. They’ll keep coming up about trying to force their way into Scotland’s squad.

“All they can do is keep taking care of their own performance levels and helping the team as much as they can.

“I think if they can do that, then naturally we’ve got other players as well. Speculation will always be there.

“There’s nothing you can do about that, but you need to keep your feet on the ground and keep working hard.”
