Exclusive: Rangers and West Brom race to sign George Bello in £1m deal

West Brom and Rangers are chasing LASK defender George Bello, sources have told Football Insider.

The United States international, 23, is out of contract in the summer of 2026 and is valued by the Austrian club at around £1million.

Bello is a long-term target for Rangers, who have scouted him for the last three seasons.

The left wing-back has scored two goals and provided three assists in 43 appearances across all competitions this term.

Rangers ready to move for long-term target

Bello started his career in the United States with Atlanta United, making 59 appearances and winning the MLS Cup – before moving to Europe with German side Arminia Bielefeld in January 2022.

He played in the top two divisions of German football before making the switch to LASK in July 2023.

The Nigeria-born ace played for the Austrian outfit in the Uefa Conference League this term and is still fighting to help them secure European football for the 2025-26 campaign via the playoff system.

Seven-cap Bello won the Gold Cup as part of the US squad in 2021 but has not featured in international football since June 2022.

West Brom are without a manager after parting company with Tony Mowbray shortly before their ninth-place Championship finish was confirmed.

Rangers are also managerless after finishing second in the Scottish Premiership and choosing not to appoint Barry Ferguson full-time.
