Exclusive: Reading make Randell Williams contract decision as rivals submit offers
Reading are keen to extend Randell Williams’ contract to fend off interest from a number of their League One rivals, sources have told Football Insider.
The 28-year-old is out of contract next week when his three-month deal comes to an end.
Reading are looking to extend the winger’s contract after becoming a trusted starter.
But his form has been noted by League One clubs, who are readying offers to entice the 28-year-old away from the Royals.
Leam Richardson was appointed by Reading in October, with his side now unbeaten across three consecutive games.
Reading keen to retain Randell Williams
Williams signed for Reading in November, and has enjoyed a positive stint at the Select Car Leasing Stadium so far.
The winger found the net against Blackpool in just his third League One appearance, and he provided an assist in a 3-2 victory over Luton Town two weeks ago.

The 29-year-old came through at Crystal Palace before joining Watford in 2018, where he would be loaned out to Wycombe Wanderers before leaving on a free transfer.
Williams then signed for Exeter City, and later Hull City, before joining Bolton Wanderers in 2023.
There, he enjoyed a positive stint until February, when Leyton Orient signed Williams on a short-term deal.
The Englishman appeared in May’s League One play-off defeat against Charlton, but was released shortly after.
A technical winger with tremendous shooting and crossing ability, Williams has earned a reputation for his spectacular summersault celebration.
What has Williams said since signing for Reading?
Williams made his debut for Reading in November against Stevenage, coming off the bench as the Royals saw out a 1-0 win.
It was a positive introduction for the forward, who has since emerged among Richardson‘s favoured options.
Williams was missing as Reading drew 1-1 with Peterborough on Monday after he was forced off against Plymouth last week, but Richardson has since confirmed that he is hopeful that it is not serious.
After making his debut, the 29-year-old told RoyalsTV: “It’s my job to be both a leader and a performer in the club. I will bring all my qualities and leadership qualities as best I can.”
“Another goal is to get promoted,” Williams added. “There’s no reason why we can’t make it. 31 games and 93 points to play for, I’ve played in and around the playoffs for the majority of my career. I know personally what it takes and the dressing room has more than enough to get there.”
