Paul Robinson suggests Tottenham may cash in on Tanguy Ndombele this summer after going public with their financial problems due to the pandemic.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso are all preferred in holding midfield by Jose Mourinho.
Ndombele, 23, is yet to feature for Spurs since the Premier League returned earlier this month and watched on from the bench for the draw against Manchester United and 2-0 win over West Ham.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Daniel Levy has no intention of bowing to the midfielder’s attempts to engineer a move away from the club this summer.
The France international arrived from Lyon for a club-record £53million fee in July but has failed to meet expectations in his 27 appearances for this season.
When asked by Football Insider Jose Mourinho needed Ndombele with wealth of holding midfielders already at the club, Robinson said: “He is the club’s record signing.
“The last two games Jose has had a fully fit squad to choose from and Ndombele has not played a minute.
“Sissoko has returned and shown that he has been missed. He has played alongside Harry Winks and Lo Celso and those three are preferred to Ndombele in the two holding midfield roles.
“If he stays it appears he will only be a bit-part and a squad player.
“Spurs have been quite public about how the current financial situation has hit them as a club. Ndombele could be a player that Mourinho disposes of to raise money and strengthen elsewhere.”
In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that move has been made to sign 24-year-old Belgium international.
