Exclusive: Salford City open talks to sign Wolves star Louie Moulden
Wolves goalkeeper Louie Moulden has opened talks over a move to Salford City, sources have told Football Insider.
Salford are in the market for a new goalkeeper after previous first choice Alex Cairns re-joined Leeds United earlier this week, as exclusively revealed by Football Insider.
Moulden, 22, has yet to play first-team football for Wolves and has spent the last couple of seasons out on loan away from Molineux.
The former England Under-20 international has spent time at Ebbsfleet, Solihull Moors, Rochdale and Northampton in the last two years.
Wolves goalkeeper Louie Moulden in talks to join Salford City
Salford have moved quickly to step up their pursuit for a new goalkeeper after losing Cairns, who had played a vital part in their squad since joining in January 2023.
Cairns made 77 appearances during his time at Salford, featuring 51 times last season as he kept eight clean sheets and helped the team secure safety in League Two.
Moulden emerged as the club’s first choice for the position after his performances across the National League and League One.
After an impressive start to last season with Rochdale in which he kept six clean sheets in 28 games, Wolves recalled him from his loan and sent him to Northampton.
His step up to the League One outfit saw him keep two clean sheets in 12 appearances, helping the team to a 14th-placed finish.

Salford finished in 20th place last time out and are now looking to strengthen in their battle against relegation, with Moulden emerging as a priority.
