Exclusive: Sheffield United making Chris Wilder sack decision
Sheffield United are set to decide in the next week whether to sack Chris Wilder, sources have told Football Insider.
Club chiefs are evaluating the manager’s position in the wake of the team’s failure to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
United lost out to Sunderland in the Championship play-off final last week, and attention has now turned to the managerial position.
The Blades’ new owners, American-based consortium COH Sports, are considering axing Wilder just four months after handing him a new contract running until 2028.
Wilder’s previous deal had been set to finish at the end of this season.

Chris Wilder under pressure after Sheffield United promotion failure
Wilder’s side missed out on automatic promotion despite picking up 90 points over the course of the season as both Burnley and Leeds United reached 100 points.
The promoted duo set a new record, with Burnley the first ever team in England’s top four divisions to collect 100 points without winning the title.
The Blades, however, were cut adrift in the season’s closing stages and were widely expected to win the playoffs after finishing 14 points clear of Sunderland.
However, failure to do so has raised serious questions about Wilder’s management given the position they found themselves in before a dip in form.
As a result of their failure to win promotion, the club have missed out on a £200million financial boost and are at risk of losing key players.

Gustavo Hamer update emerges amid Everton interest
Following their failure to gain promotion from the Championship, vultures have begun circling United’s key players with summer deals in mind.
Football Insider revealed on 2 May that Everton will explore a deal for Gustavo Hamer if the Blades remain in the Championship.
The 27-year-old is believed to be keen to play in the top tier of English football and is set to assess his options when the transfer window opens.
Moyes is keen to add creativity to his side, after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider Everton want to sign “the next Iliman Ndiaye”.
