Exclusive: Stoke City have ‘strong interest’ in signing sensation Harrison Burke

Stoke City have a strong interest in signing goalscoring Chester City defender Harrison Burke, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship side have been closely watching the 22-year-old National League centre-back and are plotting a potential move.

Burke has scored a remarkable 10 goals in the National League North this season.

The Chester academy graduate is regarded as capable of playing at Championship level immediately.

Stoke keen on remarkable Chester defender

He signed his first senior contract with his hometown club in October 2020 and scored on his full debut for the club 18 months later – a strike which was voted the club’s Goal of the Season for the 2021-22 campaign.

Burke has already captained Chester at senior level and is a key man as they hunt for promotion to the fifth tier this term.

Stoke sensation wanted by Arsenal

Meanwhile, Stoke could lose a promising young defender of their own in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed last month that Arsenal are monitoring Jaden Dixon, 17, after launching an enquiry for him on transfer deadline day.

Arsenal are hunting for a replacement for highly-rated Ayden Heaven, who has already made an impression with Man United.

Stoke, who sit 19th in the Championship this term, have given Dixon first-team opportunities this season and he is a regular for England at Under-18 level.
