Exclusive: Sunderland accelerate new striker signing, Regis Le Bris’ plan revealed
Sunderland are eyeing the addition of a new striker to their squad ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris is keen to ensure that his team do not stand still after an impressive return to the Premier League this term, and he has identified the attack as a key area for improvement ahead of 2026-27.
Brian Brobbey is Sunderland’s top scorer with five league goals so far this season, and Le Bris sees the addition of more firepower as the next step to help his team progress.
The top-flight returnees are currently eight points behind Chelsea in the Europa League spot, and they are hopeful of pushing on towards the European places next season.

Striker addition to push Wilson Isidor out of the door
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Wilson Isidor may push to leave Sunderland at the end of the season, as he continues to find gametime hard to come by of late.
The Wearsiders knocked back an enquiry from Everton during the recent January transfer window, but could be more open to the idea of a sale ahead of next season.
The 25-year-old hasn’t scored since October, and has only managed 64 minutes of league football so far in 2026.
Isidor is already unhappy with the gametime that he is receiving at the Stadium of Light, and the addition of further competition in the attacking department would likely see him fall further down the pecking order.

The Black Cats have enjoyed a signficant rise as a club since Le Bris came in and took the reins in 2024, and Isidor now looks set to become a casualty of their improved fortunes.
Sunderland set to face big Robin Roefs battle this summer
Football Insider revealed at the start of February that Sunderland are expecting to receive bids in excess of £50million for star goalkeeper Robin Roefs this summer.
The Dutchman has been one of the Premier League’s standout glovemen so far this season, and the hierarchy at the Stadium of Light are expecting the division’s elite to have their eyes on him in the coming months.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are already leading the interest from within the ‘big six,’ and that is expected to grow further between now and the end of the campaign.
Sunderland have already moved to provide cover for the in-demand star, as they added young Swede Melker Ellborg to their goalkeeping group during the recent winter window.
