Exclusive: Tottenham land £38m windfall
Tottenham have banked around £38million in prize money following their Europa League final victory, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 after Brennan Johnson grabbed the only goal of the game in Bilbao on Wednesday (21 May).
The victory has ended the north London giants’ 17-year wait for a trophy, dating back to their League Cup success over Chelsea in 2008.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have endured a challenging season in the Premier League as they sit 17th in the table heading into their final game of the campaign against Brighton on Sunday (25 May).
However, Tottenham’s European form has kept their season alive after suffering just two defeats in the Europa League.
They finished fourth in the revamped league phase of the competition before beating AZ Alkmaar, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt on their way to the final.
Spurs will now play in the Champions League next season following their Europa League success.

Tottenham land big payout after documents revealed
As per official Uefa documents, each team earned a guaranteed £3.6million for playing in the Europa League this season.
They also received extra cash payments under the governing body’s new value pillar system, which is split into European and non-European segments based on their coefficient ranking and the market pool.
Clubs were awarded £379,000 for each win and £126,000 for a draw in the league phase, meaning Tottenham banked just over £2.1million after winning five and drawing two of their eight fixtures.
The London side also received £1.5million for qualifying automatically for the last 16 as well as £505,000 for finishing in the top eight.
The 36 clubs competing in the Europa League have been paid an additional amount based on their individual ranking in the league phase, with Spurs’ fourth-place finish landing them a further £2.1million.
Their run to the final saw them scoop up an extra £11.5million, while the victory over Man United was worth £5.1million.
Tottenham will also now play either Inter Milan or PSG in the Super Cup this summer, with both teams earning £3.4million for participating.
Sources have told Football Insider Spurs have earned around £38.7million in total prize money, including the payments from the value pillar system.
