Exclusive: Tottenham make Rodrigo Bentancur transfer decision
Tottenham are working on agreeing a new long-term contract with Rodrigo Bentancur, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs have opened negotiations with the 27-year-old Uruguay international.
They are ready to sign off on a new deal for Bentancur despite his struggles with injury in recent seasons and his suspension earlier this season.
However, Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 March) that Tottenham will hold crunch talks with Yves Bissouma – with a potential exit more likely for the Mali international.
Bentancur set for new Tottenham contract while Bissouma could quit
Both players are currently out of contract in June 2026 – meaning they could open talks over a free transfer in less than 12 months.
It is believed Bissouma will seek assurances that he will get regular first-team football and will seek an exit if he doesn’t receive them.

Bentancur has made 29 appearances across all competitions this term, notching one goal and two assists.
He has started in 24 of those outings and is two games away from reaching 100 appearances in a Tottenham shirt after joining from Juventus in January 2022.
Tottenham fans rage at Romero latest
As per Football Insider (3 March), Tottenham supporters are fuming with Cristian Romero after he was called up for Argentina duty despite not playing since December.
Fans were already sceptical when seeing the Spurs star return to training last week.
The club’s supporters feel Romero should remain in north London for this month’s international break to ensure his injury recovery is successful.
He has been one of several key players on the treatment table with Ange Postecoglou‘s side sitting 13th in the Premier League after enduring months with a barebones squad.
