Exclusive: Tottenham set sights on overseas manager target in new twist

Tottenham are scouring the overseas market for their next manager despite strong links with three highly-rated Premier League bosses, sources have told Football Insider.

Ange Postecoglou is currently in the Spurs dugout but is facing sack scrutiny after a dismal 2024-25 campaign which has left the club sitting 14th in the Premier League.

Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, Fulham boss Marco Silva and Brentford manager Thomas Frank have all been linked with a potential move to Tottenham this summer.

But in a new twist, while it is believed that while the trio’s Premier League experience will be attractive for Spurs chiefs – they will cast a wide net if they are to replace Postecoglou in the off-season.

Iraola, Silva and Frank won’t be alone on Tottenham manager shortlist

Tottenham will not shy away from looking overseas to appoint a potential replacement for the Australian and their recruitment team will do a thorough job.

Postecoglou has been with the Lilywhites since 2023 and is under contract until June 2027.

He finished fifth in the Premier League in his first season at the club and could yet deliver silverware this term in the Europa League – with Spurs facing a quarter-final tie against Frankfurt in April.

Iraola, Frank and Silva have all emerged on the radar after their impressive spells at Bournemouth, Brentford and Fulham – who are all operating on a much smaller budget than Tottenham.

Tottenham lead race to land first summer deal

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Friday (28 March) that Tottenham are leading the race to sign Lille star Angel Gomes ahead of the summer transfer window.

Clubs in France, Spain and Germany are also intensifying their efforts to sign the 24-year-old – who is available on a free transfer in the off-season.

Gomes has already turned down a contract offer from West Ham, who are not expected to return with a new offer as things stand.

Spurs scouts have been watching Gomes throughout this season to keep an eye on his progress.
