Exclusive: Tottenham ‘very interested’ in signing ‘Ange Postecoglou favourite’
Tottenham are “very interested” in signing Lille midfielder Angel Gomes on a free transfer this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 24-year-old England international has emerged as an option to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s midfield options.
They are expected to face plenty of competition for his signature as a result of his availability, amid interest from West Ham and a number of teams across Europe.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed Man United are not planning to re-sign Gomes and will instead pursue other targets, handing Spurs a boost in their efforts.
The Man United academy graduate has attracted plenty of interest since impressing in his four England senior appearances under Lee Carsley.
Meanwhile, his 134 appearances for Lille over five years at the Ligue 1 club have allowed him to grow and develop his game to set up a potential return to the Premier League.

West Ham to rival Tottenham in race to sign Angel Gomes
Postecoglou’s side are long-term admirers of the midfielder as former Spurs scout Mick Brown revealed Tottenham scouts have been watching Gomes.
Meanwhile, Paul Robinson told Football Insider in October that Postecoglou is a big fan of Gomes and is keen to bring him back to the Premier League.
However, the ever-growing level of interest in his signature means they are going to have to move quickly if they want to reach an agreement.
Football Insider revealed on 11 March that West Ham have moved to steal a march on Tottenham in the race for Gomes’ signature.
The Hammers have stepped up their interest in recent weeks as they are looking to back Graham Potter in the summer window, and believe the 24-year-old would be a good fit.

Postecoglou plots Adam Wharton bid after Crystal Palace latest
Signing a new midfielder has emerged as one of Tottenham’s priorities ahead of the summer transfer window as Postecoglou feels they are short of quality in the position.
Alongside Gomes, former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham scouts have been watching Adam Wharton at Crystal Palace.
The 21-year-old has recently returned from a long injury lay-off, but has also attracted the attention of Man City who have also sent scouts to track his progress.
However, Football Insider revealed on 14 March that Crystal Palace want to keep hold of Wharton this summer and are under no pressure to sell.
