Jack Clarke will return to Leeds United training today after agreeing the terms of a buy-to-loan move to Tottenham, Football Insider understands.
As revealed by Football Insider last week, the Premier League giants will today announce the teenage winger as their first signing in 18 months after tying up a deal worth up to a potential £12million.
In a late twist to the deal, Leeds and Tottenham sources have told Football Insider that it has been agreed that Clarke will immediately head back to Elland Road on loan for next season.
The 18-year-old is set to return to training at Thorp Arch today just days after heading to London to undergo a Spurs medical and put the finishing touches to his big-money transfer.
Tottenham have decided that Clarke’s development will best be served by spending a season learning his trade in the Championship rather than in north London, where he would have been on the fringes of their first team.
It will be regarded as an exciting twist by Leeds fans, who had vocally expressed their disappointment last week that Clarke was set to become their fifth academy product in three years to be sold in a big-money transfer.
Sam Byram joined West Ham in January of 2016, Lewis Cook headed to Bournemouth the following summer, Charlie Taylor signed for Burnley in August 2017, Ronaldo Vieira moved to Sampdoria last summer and now Clarke is making the biggest move of them all.
Clarke will now get the chance to add to the 25 senior appearances he made for Leeds after being fast-tracked into the first team last autumn.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that a northern club are plotting a sensational double Leeds swoop as exodus also underway.
