West Brom are closing in on the permanent signing of Matheus Pereira, Football Insider can reveal.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at The Hawthorns and was one of the Championship’s star performers.

A Baggies source has told Football Insider that the Brazilian is set to sign a four-year contract with the West Midlands club.

The newly-promoted side are obliged to buy the attacking midfielder after he completed more than 30 appearances in the 2019/20 campaign.

The Baggies will have to pay Sporting Lisbon a fee in the region of £9million for his services.

Earlier this year, this site revealed West Ham’s interest in the player but Pereira will now put pen to paper on long-term deal at the Hawthorns.
