Exclusive: West Brom’s Mo Faal in talks to join Barnsley
West Brom forward Mo Faal is in talks to join Barnsley on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old has been a target for a number of EFL clubs, but Barnsley are hoping to lure the player to Oakwell.
The West Brom academy product scored his first goal for the club in the Carabao Cup win over Fleetwood earlier this month but could still depart the Hawthorns this week.
Faal hasn’t made any appearances in the Championship so far this season, but a step down to League One could give him more game time.
The promising forward has caught the attention of many clubs due to his goalscoring abilities, having scored 49 times already in his career.
Faal is out of contract with West Brom next summer, meaning he will become a free agent if no new terms are agreed upon.
West Brom could lose out on a talented prospect in Mo Faal
Faal’s contract status will be an interesting situation, as West Brom will have to push a new deal within the next year.
He has proven his goalscoring abilities at a youth level, but Faal has also thrived when playing professionally.
He spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers and scored 15 goals in 53 appearances for the League Two club.

One reason the club could be open to letting Faal go out on loan is that they’re pursuing Preston North End striker Will Keane.
In other news, Colchester agree to sign Nottingham Forest’s Aaron Donnelly.
