Exclusive: Wrexham and Rangers submit formal Kenny McLean offers

Wrexham and Rangers have submitted formal bids for Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants and Championship club are eager to complete deals for the 33-year-old before Monday night’s cut-off (1 September).

Rangers and Wrexham are both in discussions for a deal for McLean and have offers on the table.

McLean has been at Carrow Road for seven years now, after his move from Aberdeen at the start of 2018.

The Scotland international started his first Championship game since returning from injury on Saturday (30 August), as Norwich beat Blackburn 2-0.

Kenny McLean set for fairytale switch to boyhood club

McLean is a lifelong Rangers fan and has admitted in the past that it is a dream of his to play for the Glasgow giants.

The Scottish midfielder played for his boyhood side in youth age groups, but never made a senior appearance for the club, leaving for St Mirren in 2008.

For the last six seasons at Norwich, McLean has made over 30 league appearances, proving his consistency and reliability.

However, he is now being linked with a move away from East Anglia, and he could be set for a fairytale switch to Rangers.

Meanwhile, Rangers have agreed terms with Everton forward Youssef Chermiti as they close in on a £10million deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old is on standby to undergo a medical as the two clubs thrash out the structure of the fee.

Discussions are advancing over a deal in which the Gers will pay an initial fee of around £8m, plus £2m in add-ons.

The package also includes a significant sell-on clause based on the profit Rangers make on any future transfer.

Talks were initially held over a loan deal for Chermiti, but the Glasgow giants then turned their attention to agreeing a permanent deal.
